Land Use Element Nearing Completion!  

After 15 months of discussion, the Planning Commission is nearing completion in its review of the Land Use Element. At the next hearing the Commission will make their final recommendations on the Land Use Classification section; then they will delve into the fifth chapter of the GPU: Community Infrastructure and Services.  Take a look at the proposed language by clicking the voting chart link below.  Take action by writing a public comment letter or attending a hearing.

New General Plan Alternatives Voting Charts 

The County recently released voting charts for the next chapters of the General Plan Update.  After completion of the Land Use Element, upcoming hearings will move to the next set of topics: Community Infrastructure and Services; Telecommunications Element;               Circulation Element;                                 Housing Element;                                   Economic Development Element.

County Supervisor Elections: Healthy Humboldt Quizzes The Candidates On April 19 and 26, Healthy Humboldt and the League of Women Voters co-sponsored candidates’ forums for the 4th and 5th District supervisors’ seats. The forums featured questions on the General Plan and other issues that will affect the health of our communities, forests and farmlands, salmon streams and Humboldt Bay. How to maintain large tracts of timberland, and the jobs and environmental qualities they support, is one of the complex problems confronting Humboldt County as it completes its 20-year General Plan Update.
