Humboldt County is a place of rare beauty and natural wealth. Our temperate climate, rugged mountains, and plentiful rivers and beaches rank Humboldt’s natural amenities above any other county in the United States (USDA Economic Research Service).

Counties ranking high in natural amenities typically doubled their population in the past 25 years. As population pressures continue to build throughout the State, the risk of Humboldt County being overwhelmed by sudden growth becomes very real. The type of growth we plan for will determine the type of growth we experience.
